Our Classes


My First Dance Class with Mommy (ages 1 ½-2 ½ )   Parent and child will participate together in this class designed to involve the parent in the very beginning process of dance training with your child. This class will include creative pre-school exercises, social interaction with other children, song and dance routines and dance related games.


Creative Movement (ages 2 ½ - 3)   “Look Mommy, I’m in my first dance class!"  Children will be introduced to basic ballet movements while developing coordination, body control, and self-discipline.


Pre-Ballet/Tap 3-4   Children will learn and continue to develop the beginning techniques of ballet and tap dancing, as well as improve their coordination, posture, balance, and gracefulness in this class.


Beginning Ballet /Tap 4-5   Children will learn and continue to develop the beginning techniques of ballet and tap dancing, as well as improve their coordination, posture, balance, and gracefulness in this class. Students will be placed into level of class based on age or by ability (recommendation of the teacher required if student is younger than the required age). The goal of this class is to impart the fundamentals of classical ballet. This class focuses on basic ballet technique, proper body alignment, Cecchetti Method of Classical Ballet terminology and musicality.


Ballet A   Children will learn and continue to develop the beginning techniques of ballet, as well as improve their coordination, posture, balance, and gracefulness in this class. Students will be placed into level of class based on age or by ability (recommendation of the teacher required if student is younger than the required age). Ballet B   Children will learn and continue to develop more basic techniques of ballet, as well as continuing to improve their coordination, posture, balance, and gracefulness at a higher level. Students will be placed into level of class based on age or by ability (recommendation of the teacher required if student is younger than the required age).The goal of this class is to develop the fundamentals of classical ballet. This class focuses on basic ballet technique, proper body alignment, Cecchetti Method of Classical Ballet terminology and musicality.


Ballet 1A   Children will learn to develop the intermediate techniques of ballet, as well as improve their coordination, posture, balance, and gracefulness in this class. Students will be placed into level of class based on age or by ability (recommendation of the teacher required if student is younger than the required age). The goal of this class is to develop the fundamentals of classical ballet taught in Ballet B. This class focuses on intermediate ballet technique, proper body alignment, Cecchetti Method of Classical Ballet terminology and musicality. Pre-pointe will be introduced at this level.


Ballet IB/Pointe   As with each level, students are invited to level 1B after they have demonstrated full understanding of the previous levels. Areas of focus are: positions of the arms, direction of the body, movement transition, technique and increased Ballet vocabulary. Classes consist of stretching exercises, barre and center work, combinations across the floor, jumps and turns. Pointe will be introduced at this level (teacher’s discretion only)


Ballet II/Pointe   In this level, attention is paid to the proper extension of the legs and feet , developing movement sequences, use of the head, balance, proper preparations for barre and center work as well as port de bras throughout. Students continue to develop extension of the legs and strength of the feet as well as more advanced barre and center work.


Strengthening/Conditioning/Flexibility   This class is for aspiring dancers of all levels and dance backgrounds.  Strength training is designed with the dancer’s unique needs in mind. Participants will learn to develop the total-body strength, flexibility and control they require for career longevity and technical excellence.


Beg. Tap (ages 6 and up)   This class focuses on rhythm, basic tap progressions, and the fundamentals of both classic Broadway-style tap and more updated, modern styles! Self-confidence, poise, and coordination are the goals of this class.


Int.Tap    The next level for our tapper’s. Building on the skills learned in beginning tap, this class will focus on more intermediate tap skills with rhythm and Broadway styles. Tap training at this level enhances rhythmic dynamics, speed, and agility. Traditional and contemporary tap styles are taught with a focus on total body movement, technical correctness and performance quality. Dancers study basic to advanced tap terminology, technique, rhythm, coordination, and style. Students will be placed into level of class based on ability (recommendation of the teacher required).


Adv. Tap   The next level for our tapper’s. Building on the skills learned in intermediate tap, this class will focus on more advanced tap skills with rhythm and Broadway styles at a higher skill level. Tap training at this level enhances rhythmic dynamics at a much faster pace, speed, agility and endurance. Traditional and contemporary tap styles are taught with a focus on total body movement, control, technical correctness and performance quality. Dancers study advanced tap terminology, technique, rhythm, coordination, and style. Students will be placed into level of class based on ability (recommendation of the teacher required).


Contemporary   A hybrid of ballet, jazz, lyrical and modern dance styles, this ballet-based technique allows a greater range of movement. This class focuses on centering, strengthening the body, increasing flexibility, improving balance, proper placement, body alignment, fluidity & emotion.


Beg. Jazz   A dance form full of rhythm, syncopation, passion and life. Classes explore body isolations of the head, shoulders, rib cage, feet and arms and encourage individual expression. Jazz can be powerful and percussive or expressive and lyrical. Ever evolving, jazz dance is taught with the music of today together with the classical jazz of yesterday.


Adv. Beg. Jazz    This class builds on the skills and technique learned in Jazz. Students will continue to work on jazz positions, turns, leaps and choreography. Students will be expected to continue work on strength and flexibility to enhance their skills and continue to grow as dancers.


Street Jazz    This class fuses hip-hop and jazz and incorporates the use of body mechanics, musicality and distinctive performance techniques. The class style is a mix of street dance foundations including hip-hop, house dance, and locking with an "L.A. choreography" influence. The result is a musically diverse routine designed to improve the dancer's body control-no matter what their dance level is. 


Kiddie Hop (ages 5-6)  Hip Hop is the perfect class for children who want to dance, stay active, and learn how to freestyle! Musicality, rhythm, and creative movement are key components of this fun, urban/street-style dance class that teaches boys and girls alike to step, stomp, and shake it out. 


Hip Hop   A high-energy class that uses the latest sounds in rap, R&B and pop music together with original movements and grooves or steps that have their base in jazz/funk. Techniques are taught through learning choreography that is appropriate for each level of class. Hip hop is urban, street, diverse and forever changing. Students will be introduced to and trained in the beginning elements of breakdancing which include the toprock, downrock, freezes and power moves.


Adult Dance   An ideal way for the adult dancer who is new to movement to learn the basics of dance technique and terminology in a particular style of dance. Offered year-round, these classes give adults the necessary skill sets and technique with a greater level of success and accomplishment. Our current introductory class offerings include: ballet, jazz, modern, tap, hip hop and barre.


Beg. Acro (ages 5-6)  This class will emphasize fun, while teaching the basic skills of gymnastics. They will learn the beginning basics of tumbling and gymnastics. They will explore strength training and flexibility in a fun and supportive way. This class is designed to enhance muscle control, patience, and flexibility all while having fun using the mats and their imaginations!
 

Acro (ages 7-up)  Students work on floor skills while learning routines and combinations. Students also work on strength and flexibility. This class is for students new to gymnastics or with only a little experience.    


Ballroom  This group class focuses on Latin and Classic Ballroom dances. Our Certified Instructor will teach your child the basics of Partner Dancing in a fun and uplifting environment. Balance, steps, musicality, posture, body language, eye contact and poise are emphasized and trained into your child from the first day.
